Malachi Place of Safety urgently needs support to sustain its operations, including providing fair compensation for its dedicated house mothers, maintaining essential infrastructure, covering educational and medical expenses, and ensuring reliable transportation for the children. The organization also faces ongoing challenges in managing everyday necessities like electricity and laundry supplies. Contributions toward these critical needs will directly impact the well-being of the children under their care.
Our wonderful Bella, one of our safehouse mothers, who lives in the second house, currently has 5 kids under her care. Her biggest challenge is that she has to buy electricity out of her small salary (approx R600/ week) and there are no funds to pay for this. She also has no emotional support, no counsiling for what she sees, hears and experiences.

Operational Expenses: The dedicated house mothers, Audrey and Bella, provide exceptional care to the children but receive minimal compensation. The organisation aims to provide them with fair compensation commensurate with their dedication, ensuring their continued commitment to the children’s well-being.
Building and Infrastructure: Funds are required to cover the construction and maintenance costs of a second home donated to Malachi Place of Safety. This includes renovations, essential repairs, and necessary improvements to ensure the safety and comfort of the children.
Education and Welfare: We are actively seeking funds to cover various expenses related to education and well-being of the children under our care. These funds will be used to support school fees, extra curricular activities, clothing, and medical expenses. Some of the children we care for have significant medical conditions, such as nephrotic syndrome, which requires expensive treatments and specialised care. Our organisation is dedicated to providing these children with the necessary resources to enrich their educational experiences and guarantee their overall well-being.
Transportation: Malachi Place of Safety relies on a mini van combi to transport 11 children to school. The vehicle requires regular maintenance and fuel costs, which need to be sustained for the smooth functioning of the organisation. Currently they are unable to insure the vehicle due to finances which is very worrying for them. Without the van they are unable to get their children to and from school and doctors.
Washing Powder and softner: We are actively seeking funds to cover 11-15 peoples washing a day. That easily equates to 30 pairs of socks a day! Not to mention the rest. And the younger children go through far more than one pair of clothes per day!
